one might make the case that Method was founded at a lunch table at Gower Middle School in 1994 when new-student prashant harassed Steve until the latter said something. The first words out of Steve’s mouth were a flurry of frustrated curse words that brought the previously raucous lunch room to a museum-like hush.
prashant responded by extending his hand and saying “nice to meet you. was that so hard?”
and so it goes.
prashant with the instigation. steve with the frustrated pushback. in between, stories are found, shaped, molded, and crafted to the highest degree.
remove the childhood antics and you find two collaborators who work in completely different worlds, one working continuously, lest the muse place a call. the other preferring a rigid process and schedule to keep surprises to a minimum. you can guess which one is which.
short films. photography. video games. original music. documentaries. sketch comedy. all of it has been a byproduct from this partnership that has been dubbed “weird science” on more than one occasion.
in 2013, the third partner came into the fold when natasha and prashant found each other. straddling the worlds of intuition and process, natasha became the catalyst for powering the creative enterprise forward. continuously laughing at the chaos of the “weird science” and saying “there is a business here” while the other two preferred to keep their heads low and focused on an endless stream of concepts.
natasha’s ability to find beauty in the details and abstract them into monumental pieces of visual art found a commercial cause in a shared obsession for genuine fidelity. a voice that could only come from one source. not chasing fads, trends, or to copy heroes, but to layer references in new and exciting ways.
frustrated with the hurried and templated nature of the mainstream creative process and obsessed with the studio practices of the 1960s and 1970s, when auteurs reigned supreme, method emerged from the intersection of these three voices.
Moments of Emotional Truth, Honestly Observed and Documented. METHOD.
art expressed to an exacting standard. perfection isn’t the outcome, but it fuels the chase, keeping us humble and grounded as we seek to grow through every commission.
working in a sandbox. understanding that we can’t have it all with every project, focus is critical. audience must be considered. the timeline must apply enough pressure to catalyze the creative process without stifling the operationally minded.
sophistication in restraint. we don’t have a fancy studio. but we do have specific tools that work naturally when placed in our hands. and we know how to use these tools to make magic happen. choices made with impact in mind. and with these restraints comes a contemplative, sophisticated voice that still retains independence, innovation, and the spirit of a collective that colors outside all the lines.
making the most of the first fifth. through our experience, taking our art around the world and back for over a combined 75 years, we’ve emerged with a set of best practices and pitfalls to avoid. and we’ve learned that most projects fail due to poor planning. so we spend the first 20% of every commission focusing on you, your needs and goals, and where you are trying to go. with your signoff, we can then let our creative juices flow.
method is what happens when a visual artist, a writer, and an engineer decide to join forces with the goal of developing a singular artistic voice. then using that voice to tell singular stories about mission-driven businesses. we aim to use our voice to amplify reasons to be cheerful. to celebrate the glory of human expression.
and for each of us, this pursuit leads to very personal goals.
for natasha, the chance to master the process of building brand-led, art-forward businesses.
for prashant, the opportunity to write, direct, and score his own feature films.
and for steve, the mission to be a vital and continuous contributor to innovative, artistic projects.
our stories have echoed through the halls of global enterprises like accenture, titleist, warner brothers, allstate, tencent and for the benefit of patrons like the us embassy, museum of contemporary art (chicago), the chicago cultural center, and been used to support new deals and investment in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
but here, we prefer the work speak for itself. metrics can be furnished upon request.
